Making It Up As I Go Along #498

Red Squirrel
Never for a stroll
Leaping across the snows
Bounding over mounds
Three hops
And upon a tree

Scaling up the bark
As mountain climber
Sans safety rope
And still quickly
Never a pause
Running on instinct

Reaching branches end
Yet no retracing steps
Heaving himself into the blue
Focused on the goal
Of perpetual motion
And landing in the next tree
Having never touched the ground

Where it was up the first trunk
It is down the next
Moments upon the ground
Another three hops
Reaches the next wooden peak

And left are small hints
Brushed indentations upon the snow
Hinting of the direction
His journey has gone

TUESDAY…
--- Work is tiring… need a vacation.
--- After writing about the ice on my driveway last week, I go down today.  Flip onto my butt coming back from the mailbox.  Do it wrestling style anyway… taking the bump.

WEDNESDAY…
--- Dayshift as dayshift usually is.

THURSDAY…
--- Easy going afternoon… Thai food for supper at work… and a nice little gift left in my drawer that made me chuckle.
--- Work wise… I was hating the place though.  So much clunky processed work that just seems to be so inefficient yet we must do it.  Drove me nuts.  Also I’m completely fed up with the wet floor signs constantly left propped up around the office.  I decided to move them out of eyesight.  After all, none of these floors are in any way wet at this point.  And that’s the problem… it’s the office equivalent of the boy who cried wolf.  In fact, most of these floors aren’t wet within two minutes of being mopped in the first place.  The cleaners are too paranoid that someone will slip and fall… something that happened three or four years ago.  Ever since the incident, we’ve been working in a dusty, grimy office that forever warns us of floors being slippery.  Management worrying about dress codes while they have no issue with the office resembling a janitor’s closet seems like selective blindness to me.

FRIDAY…
--- Physio and a nap before work.  Work is fairly busy with computer systems down and troublesome for several hours.

SATURDAY…
--- Home all day.  Up just before 10:00.  Some TV. Some computer time.  Some phone time with the parents.  And I’m booked for summer vacation.  Home in July.  Two weeks with Edena and family there as well… and I’m guessing half of the two weeks will be outside the city (three days on Fogo… a day or two around Central Newfoundland.  Should be nice.

SUNDAY…
--- Woods walk in the morning.  Cold today but staying in the woods keeps you out of the wind and it’s a really nice time.
--- Some movies and a soak in the afternoon help make it a relaxing  Sunday.

MONDAY…
--- Morning walk.  When looking out the window, I saw the little red squirrel scoot across a path… when I was out, I found his tracks in the snow… and then, afterwards, saw many squirrel tracks throughout the woods.  I wonder how many red squirrels are here? Do I see the same one over and over? Or one of dozens?
--- Some reading in the afternoon and a bit of TV as well.
