Making It Up As I Go Along #448

Ended up with an extended break in posting. Just been so busy with the vacation out west. Things should get normal again now for the rest of the summer.

Snow
Snow belongs atop mountains
Far away from me
Artistically upon the landscape
A wonder to distantly see

Mountain snow all dotted with trees
Seen while soaring above
Comfortably Bigfoot watching
Seeking that moving tree
Trudging to his King Kong perch
To look down upon the green.

I don't need snow nearer
Don't need it in my yard
Slushy streets don't warm my heart
And shovelling is too hard.

Yes mountains are where snow belongs
Where ice lakes are ringed by pine
And higher up the slopes
Rock grey sheds the pure white
Cascading it into the tree line

SUNDAY...
--- Dayshift alone. Few things going on. But not too bad.

MONDAY...
--- Holiday Monday so it's like working a second Sunday. Though Keith is with me today so the work is spread out some.
--- Softball tonight. We win again to go 3 wins in a row to start the season. This one being a 21-10 win. It's been fun so far but I'll miss the next two games on vacation.

TUESDAY...
--- Nightshift is pretty quiet.

WEDNESDAY...
--- Last night before vacation. A few thunder showers through the day and a fairly ordinary evening.

THURSDAY...
--- Quiet day around the house. More rain showers off and on through the day.
--- Neighbours behind me have hired people to build a patio. It basically will take over their entire back yard. No grass. Just a deck. A little weird looking but maybe they'll have a hot tub out there or something.
--- Do some laundry and get the bags out to prepare for vacation.

FRIDAY...
--- Do a walk and hang around the house. Some BBQ for supper.

SATURDAY...
--- Hang out and watch the Jays on tv before flying to Toronto myself. Meet mom and dad there get an airport shwarma for supper. Then on to Vancouver. Two movies and the Pougues greatest hits helps the trip go by.

SUNDAY...
--- Early morning and on to Castlegar.  Breakfast with Edena and the family.
--- To Ainsworth hotsprings for a soak. Then to Nelson for supper at the Prestige. Fairly early night to bed.

MONDAY...
--- Up pretty early... And yet I'm the last to rise. Edena's birthday today but they're all off to work and school and such. Mom and dad take over with the desires to clean and Tilly, the dog, doesn't know what to think.

TUESDAY...
--- Head to Nelson for some shopping. Get a new pair of hiking sandals and a new pair of hiking boots. Not that my old ones are ready for the trash but these are lighter, water proof, and the most comfortable hiking boots I've put on. So it is done.
--- Very quiet night after supper. People are basically packing it in by 9:00 and everyone is basically doing their own thing from supper to then.

WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY...
--- Busy times. A trip to New Denver and Nakusp. A trip another day to Trail and Rossland. Golf. Suppers out. Watching Fraser and Claire at a dance recital. Spotting a deer and her two fawns on the highway from Nelson... With the deer pausing at the side of the road to look for traffic and the fawns hanging back on the edge of the woods waiting for the a-ok.

SUNDAY...
--- Pancake breakfast outside... Put on by Rotary Club... Is yummy but cold. As in there was a bite to the wind.
--- Warmed up for Duff and I to go hiking a trail. Up a mountain for great views and a lunch then back down in a total time of about four hours or so. Tired legs after that's done.
--- Supper in Trail at the Colander restaurant. Good good Italian. I have lasagna and meat balls and eat it lickity split. Cards at home afterwards before bed.

MONDAY...
--- Pack. Lunch with mom, dad and sister. Then get Duff for a little hanging out before I leave.
--- Six hours in Vancouver airport. Eat a burger there then perch with a window seat overlooking the mountains. Play around on the iPad and watch airport activity.
--- Leave for Ottawa at 11:10. Arrive at 6:25. Sleep about twenty minutes on the flight. So the drive home is tough.

TUESDAY...
---  after getting home, I go to bed with no unpacking beforehand. Switch to the spare room though as fence builders are out back right now.
--- Sleep less than four hours. Watch some tv. Get some groceries. And struggle to stay up late tonight. Got to keep it late for upcoming nightshift.
